So yh, sorry about the lack of posts in the last *runs off to check when last post was* 10 days. I’ve been occupied with Bad Company 2 quite a lot and I’ve been going out with friends a lot more recently (we finished school yesterday so I should have some more time on my hands from now on) But I haven’t been ignoring Minecraft, just not posting anything about it. Today’s post is going to be a kind-of overview of the stuff I’ve built on the new server map over the last week or so.
This is my “base area” I suppose you could call it, my house is atop the hill and the building to the right is an automatic wheat farm.
The house I built is the same house (with a few changes) as the one I showed in my last post. I’m not going to show off the insides, if you want to see what it looks like just go to my last post.
Downstairs is a small mushroom farm, with a mineshaft in progress on the right and an idea from Iced_Apple on the left – a tunnel sysetem joining all of the houses in the area together for easier access at night for example. But that is still being constructed, I might show that in another post when it is finished.
And finally my wheat farm, it is automatic and rather stylish if I must say so myself 😀 To harvest you just have to flick the lever, this opens a piston which lets water run down the channels of crops and harvests them. It then pushes the wheat and seeds down to a collection point next to the door.
Hi guys, sorry that I haven’t been posting much in the last few days. Not had much time on my hands, been playing other games, playing my guitar (learning Sweden off the Minecraft soundtrack) and just general things happening in my life. So yh. I did post a new video on YouTube (a tutorial of the piston door I posted a few days earlier) but forgot to post it here, so I’ll do that now.
I shall try and get some more posts out soon, inbetween life, guitar and other things I’ve been doing lately. I’ve also been playing some Crysis 2 and I want to try and finish that off (I have a habit of leaving games I’m playing half finished (Half Life)) And I may also buy Cities XL 2011 later as it is on sale for £5.99 and it is a game I have been wanting to play for a while but couldn’t be bothered to pour £29.99 out of my pockets for a game that I probably won’t even play for that long.
But anyhow, I’ll be trying to get out some more posts in the next few days but don’t be surprised if I don’t, I’ve been feeling quite tired lately and there are things I would much rather be doing than forcing myself to play a game, take screenshots, think of things to write whilst I’m doing all of this and then compile this all into a post. It may not sound it but it is quite draining and sometimes I just don’t feel like it.
So I hope to be posting some more, but until then I’m signing off for some well-deserved rest 😀
Sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days, because of the 1.7 update my mods are out of date and don’t want to continue my singleplayer world until I get baby animals because I will lose them otherwise. But here is a video as I’m not posting nothing. There will probably be another piston video tomorrow.
After my last mining trip I came back with about 5 stacks of cobblestone, filling up the column for cobblestone in my old chest. (Yes, I’m quite a perfectionist when it comes to Minecraft) Changing the subject slightly I did also come back with a total 8 diamonds, giving me a grand total of 9.
But moving along, I started to build an undergorund/basement area for my house. At the moment it’s just going to have my storage room but in the future it might contain a mushroom farm or something as well.
I built the stairs going down to the right because my mineshaft’s roof is over to the right and it would intersect that and mess everything up. It may look a bit funny but it is easier this way.
Done, it’s not much right now but I will be filling it in with extra chests and signs when I need to – right now I only need it for cobble.
The mine I made last yesterday came in very useful today as I needed quite a lot of cobblestone for the roof. I decided to try and see what it looked like having a roof on my house.
I think that looks fine and dandy. I might extend the roof over the balcony on the right in the future, but that’s fine for now.
I also decided to make a farm, firstly because of food, secondly because I need wheat to tame livestock (baby animals mod) so I can bread them and thirdly because pistons are coming to Minecraft in Beta 1.7 and because of this I can make an button harvesting farm.
I built it in a way that I think looks quite cool (and weird) but the main thing is that it works efficiently. Until pistons get implemented you can just place a block of water in the hole at the end of the farm and it will have the same effect as flicking a switch when the farm is finished.
It holds 24 wheat in total and give back around 10 seeds back, so they will build up quite quickly. That’s all for now, don’t know what I’m going to be doing in the next post. You’ll just have to wait and find out . . .
Today I decided to take a break from SMP Minecraft and go back to my single player world for a while, probably just until the map on Burnt’s server gets changed when Beta 1.7 gets released.
First thing I noticed when I came back to this world is how ugly my mineshaft in the garden looks, it has to go. So I headed down into it, nearly falling into the lava at the bottom of the shaft that I found last time. I took out all of the ladders and made my way back up on a column of cobble, sealing the top. Also the fence needed finishing so I did that as well.
Then I started to build a staircase down the side of the hill, one for the new mine and also because I might build a dock here in the future. The mine is only small for now, but it will do.
Next on my to-do list is finish off the house properly, mainly the missing glass upstairs. After a quick trip to the desert next door I came back with about 60 sand. I popped half in the furnace and with the left-overs I made this small beach in front of the mine entrance. After that the glass was ready and I quickly filled in all the gaps upstairs.
I still need to make a roof and add some finishing touches to the insides like some bookcases and seats maybe. But I’ll do that next post.
