So yh, sorry about the lack of posts in the last *runs off to check when last post was* 10 days. I’ve been occupied with Bad Company 2 quite a lot and I’ve been going out with friends a lot more recently (we finished school yesterday so I should have some more time on my hands from now on) But I haven’t been ignoring Minecraft, just not posting anything about it. Today’s post is going to be a kind-of overview of the stuff I’ve built on the new server map over the last week or so.
This is my “base area” I suppose you could call it, my house is atop the hill and the building to the right is an automatic wheat farm.
The house I built is the same house (with a few changes) as the one I showed in my last post. I’m not going to show off the insides, if you want to see what it looks like just go to my last post.
Downstairs is a small mushroom farm, with a mineshaft in progress on the right and an idea from Iced_Apple on the left – a tunnel sysetem joining all of the houses in the area together for easier access at night for example. But that is still being constructed, I might show that in another post when it is finished.
And finally my wheat farm, it is automatic and rather stylish if I must say so myself 😀 To harvest you just have to flick the lever, this opens a piston which lets water run down the channels of crops and harvests them. It then pushes the wheat and seeds down to a collection point next to the door.
Sorry for not posting much in the last few days, had some homework that needed to be done and I’ve been playing Terraria a bit more frequently (started a new character and world) Oh, and I’ve also been working on this. Enjoy 😀
Just going to be more of a picture post this one, I’ve been working on that Minecart system I mentioned in a previous post. Pretty much finished I think. Just need to get around to making the videos to showcase it. I also found out about a little inde game (off Notch’s twitter) that is quite a lot like Minecraft. It looks quite a lot of fun and is meant to be played multilayer mostly, well that’s what I’m guessing from the gameplay trailers. More about that in a bit.
So after finishing Portal 2 yesterday morning I went back to Minecraft and booted up my server. As expected the house I built on it looks like crap, but my main goal today is to build a gigantic bridge/elevated railway to the big cave system we found over the ocean and on the other side of a hill. I was hoping to link up to a small cabin that Sqiglesheep had built over there. So after designing a mini station with the new booster tracks (and it works rather well I must say myself) I started to get together some wood and begin building this project, and even after building for another 10 minutes or so after taking these pictures the end is still far from near. I am also running out of iron for the tracks, fast.
Thought I’d just make a quick post showing what I’m working on at the moment in Minecraft – an Automatic Minecart Station. What it basicly does is, when you stand on the first pressure plate a cart is sent up and sits on the second plate. Then when you enter the minecart the second pressure plate activates and sends a booster cart to send you on your way. There is also a hole where you push the minecart back into the system.
Here are some pics:
The track on the left is meant to go to somewhere, but I was building this on a flatgrass world I made.
Standing on the plate in the picture above sends the main cart onto the platform.
Then sitting in the cart sends the booster on the other track.
This is where the cart returns into the station, you then push the cart down the chute and back into the system.
This is where all the carts are eternaly boosted around until they as sent back above ground when the pressure plates are activated.
If anybody wants me to make a more in-depth look/tutorial above the mechanism please leave a comment and I will see what I can do.
